Developed by Nakheel, the Palm Jebel Ali project is part of Dubai's ambition to become "The Most Beautiful City in the World," according to Sheikh Mohammed. Dubai 2040 Urban Master Plan represents the 7th development plan for Dubai since 1960. During the time, Dubai's population has increased by 80 times, from 40,000 in 1960 to 3.3 million in 2020. The urban and built-up area of the Dubai has also expanded, growing by 170 times from 3.2 square kilometers.
Under Dubai’s 2040 Urban Master Plan, Palm Jebel Ali will be built to accommodate more than 80 hotels and resorts, extending the Dubai’s coastline by 110 kilometers. This plan aims to achieve sustainable urban development in Dubai while enhancing the well-being and overall quality of life for its people. The goal of Dubai’s 2040 Urban Master Plan is to solidify city’s position as a global destination for citizens, residents, and visitors over the next two decades. It brings together existing urban development master plans in Dubai, aligning them with strategic economic and future requirements.
